Our story
Two friends, one long table.
Corkhouse started with a simple idea: a bar where the wine is honest, the food is generous and nobody is in a hurry to leave.

Since 2019
Lindengasse 14, Vienna
Lena had spent ten years pouring wine in other people’s restaurants. Jonas had cooked in kitchens that took themselves far too seriously. When a tiny corner space in the seventh district came up for rent, they signed the lease before they had a name.
The first menu fit on a postcard. The wine list was whatever their grower friends could spare. People came anyway, and then they came back, and slowly the room filled up with regulars, long tables and a lot of good conversations.
“We wanted a place where you can order one glass, or stay for the whole bottle.”
Lena, co-founder

Today the list has around sixty bottles, almost all from small farms that work organically or biodynamically. We know most of the growers by name, and many of them have sat at our bar. The kitchen still cooks a short menu that changes with the market, and the best seat is still the one by the window.
Along the way
A few good years.
2019
The doors open
Twelve seats, one fridge of natural wine and a menu that fit on a postcard.
2021
A real kitchen
We take over the shop next door and build a small open kitchen with a grill.
2023
The long table
Winemaker dinners become a monthly ritual, now with room for 24 guests.
2026
Still pouring
Sixty bottles, eighteen growers and more regulars than we can count.
The people
Who’s behind the bar.
A small team that cares a lot. Ask any of us for a recommendation and you’ll get a story with it.
